5QA Cris Wiegandt / illustrator & video artist
Welcome to the next DiasOfDiaz Q&A special! This is my way of letting you know more details about the “little treasures” that I give away: small designer brands, models… Here is another secret talent that I would like to share with you: Cris Wiegandt. Growing up in the ultimate Brazilian metropolis São Paulo, it is no wonder that she couldn’t help but travel the world and by now settled in another huge and creative city: Berlin. Cris has studied graphic designs and has worked for numerous big European advertising agencies participating in campaigns for big players like Volswagen and Ikea. But her true passion always belonged to film making – especially stop-motion. And that’s also where I see her huge talent… See below…
DiasOfDiaz: What truely inspires you?
Cris Wiegandt: Mostly it is music. I hear it and my feelings move my thoughts. Sometimes listening to a conversation. When people talk, I see it in pictures. And other times seeing other people work.
DiasOfDiaz: And what do you do when you feel oh so uninspired?
Cris Wiegandt: Hmm this is a good question. Depending on my mood and the situation I go dancing or do sports, I check other artists’ work, I meet people who have nothing to do with my work… Or I clean my studio. Sometimes I find old ideas in my sketch books or just objects that inspires me.
DiasOfDiaz: The top 5 of your current playlist (laptop – iPod – whatever)?
Cris Wiegandt: 1. David Bowie (always) – 2. Marisa Monte – 3. Santigold – 4. Planningtorock – 5. Björk
DiasOfDiaz: What is your favourite medium of communication – and why?
Cris Wiegandt: Definitely my computer. I can talk to people, see other work, get inspiration, see movies, read news and also work.
DiasOfDiaz: What was the craziest idea you ever had? And why haven’t you put it into action?
Cris Wiegandt: I had some, mostly they fail for lack budget. But I made a survival plan with a friend in case we need it: we will dress as a mexican band (with big mustaches), go to some island like Canary Islands and play for older rich ladys “mexican cheesy songs”.
DiasOfDiaz: Complete the sentence „My greatest work of art is…“
Cris Wiegandt: None. I could always do it better.
