Best of Fashion Week Paris Summer 2013 – Women’s Wear Part Eight

And it’s part eight of our best of women’s wear from Fashion Week Paris - again, in alphabetical order…

The day of the grand finale couldn’t happen with one of the stunning shows of Alexander McQueen. Luckily Sarah Burton really knows how to keep that fragile avant-garde spirit of the passed designer genius alive. This time the influences clearly included Spanish toreros and flamenco dancers but the typical strong, armour-like femininity of Alexander McQueen was present in every single outfit. I could not remember any other design house combine sensitive workmanships like smocking and knotting so skillfully and smoothly with harder features like crinolines and corsets. Again: I love Alexander McQueen - and Sarah Burton.

Last but surely not least we witnessed Marc Jacobs drop a Louis Vuitton colour bomb over Paris. He ingeniously used the escalators of the location perfectly to emphasize the linearity of the designs and to lead through the colour ways. All looks were presented in pairs, so the audience had the impression of watching girlfriends taking a stroll around the city. The silhouettes and the styling had a strong 1960′s touch but were still translated very today and seductively tomorrow.
