And while we’re so artsy at the moment: have you heard of the artist David Ballinger yet? Well, he’s not one of those usual spray paint artists that pop up once in a while and present us some inspiring work just before they disappear again. David Ballinger knows how to create a “painting” with nails, real galvanized nails… Watch him on his YouTube channel here and check out his work below and on his website… This is really something new.
“After college, I started creating simple paintings using straight lines that up close look like lines, but from a distance create an image. I showed these paintings to an artist friend who said, “ehh, I’ve seen that before.” That compelled me to create the same type of paintings, but instead of using straight lines, I used curved, more complex lines. So, I really stumbled across optical art.”, Ballinger told UGallery. And while we are wondering how he came up with using a paintball gun, nails and other unusual “painting” tools, he states. “I love working in my garage and using tools, so I look for different materials I can use there. I also like using stencils and spray-paint because of the crude and unpredictable effect it creates.” Well, yes, I agree, his works definitely are unpredictable. Watch out for David Ballinger exhibits in your neighborhood…!
