Best of Fashion Week London Summer 2013 – Women’s Wear Part One
After New York Fashion Week the fashion world focusses on London. Here is the first part of theDiasOfDiaz best of Summer 2013 women’s wear from the Fashion Week London - again in alphabetical order…
Starting with a big bang – boom – bang: Burberry Prorsum. As you might have guessed from my Facebook page already, I am deeply impressed of what Christopher Bailey has made (again) for this traditional, oh so British brand. In his role as Chief Creative Officer of Burberry, Christopher Bailey is responsible for the design of all Burberry collections and products, as well as all advertising, corporate art direction, architectural design, multimedia content and overall brand image for Burberry. And while this might seem more than one human could do, Mr Bailey is doing a fantastic job. Again and again and again. Hats off for Burberry Prorsum: now metallic, smashingly colourful but always Brit.

The Fashion Fringe show was an inspiration for the whole business – as ususal… Fashion Fringe was set up nine years ago by Colin McDowell in association with IMG Fashion, in response to the need to support young talented designers in London and to keep them in London. The aim is to discover, nurture and sustain cutting edge design talent across the UK and since 2004 the inspirational and committed business model has helped launch more than seventeen designers onto the London fashion scene. The annual project culminates with the Fashion Fringe catwalk event taking place as part of London Fashion Week in September.
For 2012, as well as continuing to help develop viable creative businesses, Fashion Fringe is focusing on encouraging the spirit of extreme imagination, adventure and experimental design that London is historically known for. Designers will be asked to demonstrate an exciting, original approach but also the potential to create and make beautiful sellable clothes. Here is what I would buy:
Felder Felder is one of the few designer brands that – from the name’s sound – might be expected to show during Fashion Week Berlin. Annette Felder and Daniela Felder might be born in Germany “but London is our home”. The twin sisters studied at Central St Martins and then started their own label in 2006. Signature: “Modern, sexy, cool.” – Alright… Here it comes:
