Graduate shows of Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee, Universität der Künste & Fashion Design Institut (FDI) @ Fashion Week Berlin

Another day for the fresh and the young! Officially it was Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee to let the youngsters conquer the event by 8.30pm. Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee (Berlin School of Art) is an Art University with a strong Bauhaus tradition. The foundation for the combination of theory and practice was laid more than 50 years ago.

Until today all first year students start with a one-year interdisciplinary program covering basic principles of Art and Design. The exchange of ideas between the different disciplines is encouraged and also supported by the school’s 13 workshops and studios open all year to students of all disciplines, offering students an opportunity to explore ideas in practice.

To close the evening the Universität der Künste will take over the runway. Studying Fashion Design at Universität der Künste Berlin (University of the Arts Berlin) ranges among the most demanded fashion educations in Europe. In a history spanning more than 300 years, the University of Arts (UdK Berlin) has not only grown into one of Europe’s leading universities but also to one of its most varied. The combined international experiences, diverse networks and design skills, compose optimal conditions for teaching with the claim of modern aesthetics. Developing and furthering individual creativity with ongoing cultural and industrial relevance, especially by intense and close collaborations with the fashion industry, is successful focus of the concept. Experimental design techniques as well as teaching design tools create the base of successful project work.

Apart from those classics the graduates of the Fashion Design Institut (FDI) presented their degree works at the legendary Hotel Adlon, Unter den Linden 77. At 1pm there was a fashion show, too. Even though this school is not from Berlin but from Düsseldorf, I find it just fabulous to give the graduates an international stage to show their talent and to meet the real business.
