5QA Frau Ana / designer
“Hamburg is the gate to the world.”, they say. Creatively multi-talented Ana Sieger took that very seriously! After graduating with an excellent degree in fashion design, the German born took off to Shanghai – with only two suitcases and her portfolio. What a crazy idea! What a city! What a challenge! But her last name wouldn’t be the German word for “winner” if she was easy to defeat: Ana worked hard and fought for her designs and creative freedom. And here she comes now: conquering the fashion world with her very own and independent brand Frau Ana. I was wondering what would be next… So it was time for another DiasOfDiaz Q&A special!
DiasOfDiaz: What truly inspires you? And what do you do when you feel oh-so-uninspired?
Frau Ana: COLOR!!!! Just today I was working in my studio and didn’t feel it, so went on my bike around town and checked out that new place a friend told me about…. and BANG, it’s back! This bar is covered in every neon color you could think of….. LOVE IT!!!!
So hear I am, with new ideas, enjoying another late afternoon in shanghai and feel pretty inspired… (Never thought I could find a place more colorful than my own studio.
At an interview for my launch party I made a joke about how David Hasselhoff and knight rider would inspire me…. that still follows me everywhere I go…. but what I actually wanted to say was that the 80ies and 90ies, and my time as a teenager built the structure of who I am toady, and that this is a big part of my inspiration…. all those videogames (I am still obsessed with TETRIS), TV shows, etc…. and hey…. I am German, of course “The Hoff” was part of it…
DiasOfDiaz: Complete the sentence: „The perfect outfit should…“
Frau Ana: …never miss accessories!!!!
DiasOfDiaz: If you had to choose a different profession which one would it be?
Frau Ana: …. Sorry, can’t think of anything! Well, maybe I would become a chef and open my own restaurant, love cooking and creating new dishes…. It would probably be just heart-shaped pink food….
DiasOfDiaz: What was the most important lesson that you learned in the years when you have been working on building up your own company?
Frau Ana: I had to learn to take it easy from time to time and relax to get back some energy…. Still have to remind myself to do that from time to time.
DiasOfDiaz: What are you wearing – NOW?
Frau Ana: That’s a bit embarrassing; wearing a black tank top today… normally not my style at all…. but its ok this time, as I’m still covered in bright pink accessories (bracelet, shoes, bag, sunglasses), and a pair of jeans shorts…. theses days its better to wear the smallest amount of clothes possible, as summer arrived and this city is freakin’ hot man….
And never forget:
fashion is fun
fashion is music
fashion is art
fashion is life
fashion is fun
lots of pink love,
