H&M designer collaboration 2012: Maison Martin Margiela
The announcement came in today and I am SOOOOO excited!!! The next H&M designers collection will be in collabotaion with one of my absolute favourites! It’s Maison Martin Margiela! This French house has always pushed boundaries in fashion. To be contrary to most other design houses, Maison Martin Margiela believes in the magic of their creative team more than in the single designer and this team has been constantly questioning the norms of fashion and presenting its pieces through the technique of deconstruction and transformation. Their collections reinvent volumes, modify shapes, change the original use and movement of garments and derail classic notions of fashion.
No wonder they became part of Renzo Rosso’s Only the Brave Group sooner or later… Alongside the big Diesel and its sister brands Diesel Black Gold and 55DSL, this group gathers also prêt-à-porter brands like Maison Martin Margiela, Staff International and Viktor & Rolf under its umbrella. Staff International currently manufactures and distributes big ones like DSquared2, Just Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood, and Marc Jacobs Men.
Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M, couldn’t have said it more correctly: “Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most important and influential fashion houses of the past three decades. I am so excited by this collaboration which will give fashion lovers around the world the chance to wear special pieces by Maison Martin Margiela. This collaboration will be a great and memorable fashion moment.“
And Maison Martin Margiela seems to be pleased with this new collaboration, too: “We are very happy to present Maison Martin Margiela pieces with H&M, offering a new interpretation of our vision. The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further. We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.”
The collection will be launched on 15 November 2012. I cannot wait!!!
