St-Martins Scandinavian Design

It’s been about ten years when I bought my first product by St-Martins Scandinavian Design: A one-of-a-kind coat with a wonderful patchwork design and very detailed embroideries on the inside and at the back. I could hardly afford it but loved it still… (You might know the feeling?) Back then this brand was so absolutely rare and underground that I was even asked if I had made the coat myself. Being a fashion design student it was not that beside the point and I felt more than flattered… But no, it was never made by me that coat…

Today I am so happy to see that they are still around – and growing! They are loving their designs down to every detail: every ribbon, every button and every embroidery is well thought through – on the outside as well as on the inside. I find still find that very rare today… Unfortunately it seems that there is no official online store yet but I can tell you some dealers on the internet: Yoox.com (just a hand full of pieces), Haburi.com, SpinningWeel.co.ukZalando.de and Zalando.ch. Some stores have replaced St-Martins Scandinavian Design by the much cheaper (mainly in workmanship) Desigual but I prefer the Scandinavian approach to this kind of style.

Please find their website www.st-martins.com. The summer 12 collection is not online yet but please find below my winter 2011-12 favourites: top Nidia with skirt Gena and coat Stasia (all photos by St-Martins Scandinavian Design). And of course you will also find the meanwhile famous patchwork designs in that collection, too… Enjoy!
